On 1 July 2007, England introduced a new law to make virtually all enclosed public places and workplaces in England smokefree.
In Coventry 563 deaths are attributable to smoking each year. The smokefree law is the biggest piece of public health legislation for fifty years and will protect thousands of lives from the dangers of secondhand smoke. A smokefree England ensures a healthier environment, so everyone can socialise, relax, travel, shop and work free from secondhand smoke.
This website provides you with information about the legislation.
Members of the public who wish to report a breach of the new law should
call Coventry City Council's Environmental Health Team 024 7683 1848.
